MARDAN: Programme for women discussed
MARDAN, Feb 11: A joint meeting of Zilla Council and the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) reviewed programmes for development and empowerment of women.
Executive District Officer (EDO) of the education department told the meeting that poverty, lack of infrastructure and the curse of child labour were the main hurdles in the way of educating girls in the district.
He said that most parents forced their children into work. The EDO of health, Arshad Khan, said that they were striving to solve health problems of women. He said that the department had educated women on preparing ORS at home.
General Manager of Human Development Support Unit (HDSU) said that a campaign to collect data about women working in various departments of the district would be launched soon.
