GUJRANWALA: DPO asked to take up pending cases

GUJRANWALA, Feb 15: The district and sessions judge has directed the district police officer to get complete the investigation of 188 pending cases within a fortnight.

Judge Javed Iqbal Siddiqui received a letter from women prisoners on Tuesday who apprised him of their long detention in jail without trial. He was told by the jail authorities that some 188 prisoners, including 13 women, involved in various cases had been in jail for years without any trial.

MINISTER: Over 900,000 children have got admission to government educational institutions following the free education policy of the chief minister.

Speaking at a function here on Tuesday, Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Iqbal said Rs330 million had been allocated for giving scholarship to 200,000 girl students. He said Rs5 billion had been allocated for the construction and repair of various educational institutions.
