QUETTA: Army troops reach Pishin for relief activities

QUETTA, Feb 16: A battalion of Army troops, along with 14 trucks carrying relief goods, have reached the rain-affected areas of Pishin district, including Toba Kakari, Toba Achakzai and Barshore, for relief activities , an ISPR press release issued here on Wednesday said.

The relief goods included 6,500 tons of ration, 600 blankets, 100 tents, 200 plastic sheets, 200 warm clothes and other necessary items. Pakistan Army has already dispatched two helicopters and two bulldozers to these areas for relief operation.

Corps Commander Lt-Gen Hamid Rab Nawaz, accompanied by General Officer Commanding Maj-Gen Mohammad Alam Khatak, also visited these areas by a helicopter. He met the people and assured them that Pakistan Army would provide them all possible facilities and required goods in this critical situation.

Meanwhile, two C-130 aircraft of Pakistan Army carrying relief goods for rain and flood affected people of Pasni, Gwadar, Bela, Awaran, Suntsar and other areas also reached Gwadar.

The Red Crescent Society of Pakistan also handed over relief goods to Pakistan Army for delivery to flood-stricken people of Mekran, which were later dispatched to Gwadar for distribution among the affected people. The goods included 300 plastic sheets, 300 coal stoves and sweaters. -APP
