THATTA: PPP holds rally against water shortage

THATTA, May 29: A large number of activists of the Pakistan People’s Party staged a protest rally against the shortage of drinking water here on Tuesday.

They were carrying banners, placards, empty utensils and buckets and were raising slogans against President Gen Pervez Musharraf and local administration for allegedly depriving them of potable water.

They also staged a sit-in on the National Highway, resulting in suspension of vehicular traffic for about one hour.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP general secretary Syed Iqbal Shah and other leaders alleged that the misdeeds of dictators had brought the country at the brink of chronic problems.

On the assurance of the taluka Nazim that the drinking water problem would be resolved within two days, the activists terminated their protest.
