GUJRANWALA: Transporters' protest
GUJRANWALA, Feb 24: Transporters and public vehicle owners protested against the traffic police for challaning their vehicles time and again without any justification.
They demanded that punitive action should be taken against the corrupt traffic police officials while Lahore-bound wagons be allowed to pass through the city with 18 passengers.
At a joint meeting of the transport association and traffic police officers here on Thursday, motor federation president Sardar M Iqbal alleged that motor vehicle examiners and traffic police officials were teasing the transporters.
Traffic DSPs Najeeb Akram Man, Syed Noor Hussain Shah and other senior officials assured transporters that stern action would be taken against the corrupt officials. However, they said that no vehicle would be allowed to come on road without fitness certificate.
