LARKANA: Demand for varsity in Larkana

LARKANA, March 27: Speakers at the Larkana History Conference held here on Sunday called for rewriting the history of Sindh by indigenous writers to correct its erroneous version.

They demanded that a full-fledged university and a museum be established in the city for research and preservation purposes.

The conference was organized by the Larkano District Historical Society.

The chairman of the Sindh Public Service Commission, Hassan Bhutto, presided over the conference.

Additional Advocate-General Sindh, Bachal Tunio, the secretary of the Sindhi Adabi Baord, Inam Shaikh, the former chairman of Sindhi Language Authority, Dr Qasim Bughio, Muslim Shamim, Manzoor Kohiyar, Dr Bashir Shad, Prof Mohan Lal Premi, Sattar Bhatti, Mazhar Jamil and DPO Saeen Rakhiyo Mirani spoke on the occasion.

They said once we learnt to preserve history, we could pave the way for generations to come to find their ways and by doing this, what they called, ‘missing links’ of history could be bridged effectively.

The conference revolved around the idea of evolving a permanent strategy to set up the Larkana museum where objects of historical importance should be displayed perfectly reflecting the history in its real sense.

The chairman of the SPSC, Hassan Bhutto, launched a book titled ‘Larkano’ on the occasion.

It was the third book brought out by the LDHS, said Mukhtiar Samoo, the secretary of the society.
