Traders’ strike in Quetta
QUETTA, April 1: The businessmen on Friday observed strike in response to a call of Anjuman-i-Tajran to protest against price hikes, especially those of petroleum products. This was the second consecutive day they did so. Business centres, trading establishments, and shopping plazas remained closed on the Jinnah Road, Qandari Bazar, Shara-i-Liaquat, Mission Road, Surajganj Bazar, Prince Road, and Zarghoon Road. A partial strike was observed on the outskirts of the provincial capital.
The Anjuman-i-Tajran had supported the PONM’s call for strike on Thursday and representatives of the business community have announced that they will also back MMA’s strike call for Saturday. Life remained normal, though, as all vehicles plied on roads and government offices, banks and educational institutions functioned as usual.
