Three new districts carved out of Hyderabad

KARACHI, April 4: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim announced the creation of three new districts, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and Matiari. Addressing a press conference at the Chief Minister House here on Monday, he said the three were being created out of the Hyderabad District. The notification had been issued, he added.

He pointed out that earlier three districts had been created in the province and the district of Umerkot had been restored.

The people were very happy of that because it was beneficial for them.

Arbab Rahim was of the view that the creation of new administrative units benefitted the people in terms of development and other works.

He pointed out that the Hyderabad District consisted of a population of about three million people. Three districts of about half a million population had been created out of this and this belonged to rural area. In old Hyderabad, there was a rural ‘tehsil’, Qasimabad and Latifabad were urban-rural mix whereas the Hyderabad city district was urbanized with 1.5 million populations.

The chief minister also announced that the headquarters of Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Muhammad Khan and Matiari would remain in the same towns.

He said that Matiari would include the ‘tehsils’ of Hala and Saeedabad— a new tehsil.

Arbab Rahim said Tando Allahyar would itself be a tehsil whereas Chambur and Tando Mari would be the two new tehsils.

He stated that Tando Muhammad Khan District would also consist of three tehsils, Jhando Muhammad Khan, Bulri Shah Karim and Tando Ghulam Haider tehsil.—APP
