PHF Council meets on 30th
KARACHI, April 20: The report by conveners of three committees will come up for discussion when the 80th meeting of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) council takeS place at Lahore’s National Hockey Stadium on April 30.
According to the agenda circulated by the PHF to its affiliated units, former Olympian Zakauddin will submit his report pertaining to style of play and foreign coaches, Col (retd) Mudassar Asghar will throw light on modalities and criteria of players, coaches etc. while Khawaja Zarrar Kaleem who has been assigned the task of convener discipline committee, will elaborate on visa affairs.
Representatives of the provincial associations and affiliated departments will also make presentations regarding activities of the game that have been conducted or planned for the future.
Another item on the agenda that is likely to draw criticism particularly from departments is the eleventh hour postponement of Governor’s Gold Cup at Peshawar last month.
The organizers were compelled to put off the annual competition after a number of teams had reached Peshawar as the newly laid pitch at the Qayoom Stadium was not ready for commissioning.
The departments incurred a huge amount of money on account of travelling and meeting other expenses. Now the question is that who will compensate for the loss?
The PHF secretary Brig (retd) Musarratullah Khan will present his report before the council, which, among other matters, will also approve the minutes of the last meeting held at Lahore on February 18.
The meeting will be chaired by PHF President, Mr. Tariq Kirmani. This will be his third council meeting after he came at the helm of PHF on December 28 last, and first as Managing Director, PIA. This is the third council meeting in four months.
The PHF chief had stressed to reactivate the council and the meetings should be held more frequently.
