City, Sadar councils in Bahawalpur approved
BAHAWALPUR, April 25: The Punjab governor has issued a notification regarding an approval for the creation of city and Sadar councils within the Bahawalpur tehsil during the forthcoming local government elections. It was learnt here on Monday that the Punjab government while accepting recommendations of local revenue officials had also approved the delimitation of both councils.
Now, both city and Sadar councils will comprise 21 and 15 union councils, respectively. The city council will consist of UCs from one to 18, 23, 26 and 27. While the Sadar council will have 15 UCs out of Bahawalpur tehsil’s 35 UCs.
It is further learnt that the preparation of lists of government officials for both these bodies have also been started. There are indications that the Sadar council office may be set up at Samasatta UC, while the city council will have its office at Bahawalpur TMA.
WALK: The Health Department on Monday organized an anti-polio walk ahead of a three-day anti-polio national campaign.
The walk, led by tehsil Naib Nazim Malik Zahid Mahmood Channar, began from the Farid Gate and terminated at the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. The walk was largely attended by employees and officials of the Health Department.
Mr Channar advised the people to avail the opportunity of administering anti-polio drops to their children during the campaign which will begin from April 26.
