OKARA: Loudspeaker misuse to be checked

OKARA, Jan 17: The district government will strictly check the misuse of loudspeakers and amplifiers and no one will be allowed to disturb the peace of other people.

This was claimed by District Nazim Syed Sajjad Haider in a meeting held here at the Committee Room with the ulema of different schools of thought.

The meeting also decided that loudspeakers in mosques would not be allowed to fan sectarianism while ulema would cooperate with the district government in this regard.

It was also pointed out in the meeting that the business of obscene video cassettes and CDs was flourishing in every nook and corner of the city with impunity.

Assuring the participants, DPO Syed Zafar Abbas Bokhari said that strict action would be taken against the people found involved in spreading obscenity.

He said cases would be registered against the people against whom complaints were lodged by the residents for tuning amplifiers at high volume.

Among the participants were also EDO (Revenue) Ghulam Nabi and MMA district president Dr Liaquat Ali.

10 INJURED: At least 10 passengers sustained injuries on Saturday in an accident on Okara-Faisalabad Road near the Police Lines, some five kilometres from here.
