SIALKOT: Pledge to maintain peace in Muharram

SIALKOT, Feb 21: An Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen Conference pledged here on Saturday to maintain peace in Muharram. The meeting was attended by Gujranwala Range DIG Altaf Qamar, Sialkot DPO Nisar Ahmad Saroya , Sialkot district Public Safety Commission chairman Anwar Ali, Hafiz Sabir Ali Sabir (Bhopalwala), Shia-Sunni Ittehad Council chairman Ehsan Elahi Rehman, Jamaat Ahle Sunnat's Punjab chief organizer Allama Qari Khalid Mahmood and Punjab JUI-S naib amir Mualana Feroze Khan attended the conference.

The DIG said police was making all out efforts for maintaining religious harmony, brotherhood and unity among different sects during the month.

He urged ulema and religious leaders to stress on the need for unity, tolerance, love, peace, mutual respects and cooperation in their speeches.

GUJRANWALA: Provincial Transport Minister Rana Shamshad Ahmad Khan has said violation of code of conduct and promotion of sectarian disharmony in Muharram will not be tolerated.

Speaking at a meeting at Kamoki on Saturday, the minister asked the religious scholars to promote harmony and peace.

Scholars belonging to different schools of thought, traders and union council Nazims attended the meeting and pledged to cooperate with the administration.

The meeting also reviewed security measures and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.
