PPP leader appeals to Benazir

MUZAFFARABAD, March 27: Peoples Party Azad Jammu & Kashmir leader and MLA Sahibzada Ishaq Zafar has called upon PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto to remove Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry from the post of president of PPAJK "for the satisfaction of the party's diehard workers."

"It is high time for the change in PPAJK leadership because Mr Chaudhry's further stay in office could ruin the party's popularity and its commitment to the masses," Mr Zafar, who is currently in Dubai, has told Ms Bhutto at a meeting, according to PPAJK sources.

Mr Zafar argued before Ms Bhutto that the politics of Mr Chaudhry was not "party-centric but revolved around his own person which was why there had been no re-organization of the party over the past eight years, sources told Dawn here on the other day.

Sources said Mr Zafar had requested Ms Bhutto to give him a chance to lead the party on account of his commitment and lifelong affiliation with the party.

"I will never disappoint you and prove my worth to your satisfaction," he is reported to have told Mrs Bhutto.
