RAWALPINDI, June 25: Four persons died in separate incidents on Friday, police said. In the first incident, a labourer was electrocuted while his colleague suffered burn injuries in Sadiqabad.

Afzal Hussain and Waqas were white washing a building when they touched high tension wires. Afzal died on the spot while Waqas sustained burns.

In another incident, Babar Hussain, who was critically burnt in a fire incident in Dhoke Charaghdeen, died here in the District Headquarters Hospital.

In his statement which Babar recorded with the Civil Lines police before his death, he said he had married Samina some 10 months ago. But, soon differences emerged between the couple which led to a separation.

On Thursday, he said he went to his in-laws' house and attempted to convince his wife to come with him. But, when he failed to convince her, he set himself on fire. On seeing him engulfed in flames, his father-in-law rushed to his rescue but he too was burnt. The Civil Lines police have registered a case.

A person was found dead in Mandra, police said. Zulfiqar Hussain, who had been missing since Thursday, was found dead in the fields on Friday. Police said the man had been shot by some unknown persons.

Meanwhile, Mehmood Ahmed, a milkman, drowned in a pond in Rawat.

Mehmood went after a buffalo into the pond and drowned. His body was fished out and shifted to DHQ Hospital.

ROBBERIES: Four robbers looted cash and jewellery from a house in Gulzar-i-Quaid on Friday.

Ghulam Sarwar, a chief security officer with the Airport Security Force, told Airport police that four armed men entered his house at around 2pm and held his family hostage.

They then snatched Rs30,000 cash, 30 tolas of jewellery and three mobile phones from the inmates and escaped after locking them in a room.

Karim Nawaz Niazi, the police investigation officer, said a case had been registered against the robbers.

In another incident, a shopkeeper was robbed in Saddar Bairuni area.

Meanwhile, seven vehicles were stolen from different parts of Rawalpindi.

Abdul Ghaffar's motorbike (RIW-8757) was stolen from Misrial Road, while Sami Imtiaz Qureshi's car (HB-589) was lifted from outside a university in the jurisdiction of Civil Lines police station.

Hakeem Sheikh Arshad told Gangmandi police that his wagon (RPT-2636) was stolen from outside his house.

Similarly, a wagon (FDV-5562) was lifted from Gangmandi, a car (IDG-2006) was stolen from Mandra and two motorbikes were lifted from Wah and cantonment areas.
