SWABI: Swabi budget presented

SWABI, July 10: District Nazim Jehanzeb Khan presented Rs959.8 million budget of the Swabi district council for 2004-05 here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, he informed the house that during the outgoing financial year the provincial government had provided Rs39.1 million to the district government for development schemes, which, he said, remained unutilized. The amount would be utilized during the current financial year, he added.

Mr Khan said the district government had allocated Rs817 million for non-development expenditures. As compared with the outgoing financial year, he said, the current budget for non-development expenditure was raised due to increase in the salaries of the government employees. Besides, Rs56.6 million were set aside as non-salary budget, he added.

About the non-salary allocation, he said Rs648,000 had been earmarked for general administration, Rs277,810 for financial institutions, Rs198,900 for planning, and Rs666,100 for revenue and state. For the development expenditures, the district nazim said, Rs39.1 million had been allocated.

Like the previous year, he said 25 per cent of development budget had been given to citizen community board (CCB) on the directive of the provincial government. None of the members could utilize the CCB budget and it would only be spent on CCB activities, he added.

The nazim said from the annual development programme Rs27.4 million had been allocated for district and Rs11.7 million for Swabi and Chota Lahor tehsils.

The provincial government, he said, would provide Rs11.7 million as octroi share and Rs34.4 million as zila tax.
