SAHIWAL: Six killed, 40 hurt as bus hits trailer

SAHIWAL, July 22: Six people were killed and over 40 others sustained injuries, 17 of them serious, on Thursday in an accident on the GT Road near Chak 3/10-L.

A fast travelling Multan-bound bus (LXP-1790) smashed into a trailer (PRA-4462) near Harappa Bypass. Consequently, six people died instantly. Helper of trailer Tariq, passenger Rukhsana and Ahmed of Chak 106/10-R were identified among the dead while the identity of a 10-year-old girl and two youths, aged between 20 and 25 years, could not be established.

Those suffered critical injuries were Mukhtar Ahmed, Sarwar, Sabir, Abid, Haji Mahboob, Riasat, Khadim, Naseem Ahmed, Khadim Ali, Zafar, Akram, Amjad, Imran, Shafquat, Bashir Ali and two unconscious women. They were shifted to the local DHQ Hospital and Nishtar Hospital, Multan. Most of the injured belong to Khanewal, Okara and Mian Channu.

Harappa police have registered a case.

LOOTED: Three armed bandits looted the house of a teacher in Madina Colony here on Thursday.

Armed bandits entered the house, held the inmates hostage and then locked them in a room. Later, they collected cash and ornaments worth Rs150,000 and disappeared. They also injured women for putting up resistance.

Fateh Sher police have instituted a case.
