FAISALABAD: Agri varsity to follow PU's academic format
FAISALABAD, Oct 20: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has decided that its course outline, weekly scheme of work and assignments will be prepared in accordance with the format of the Punjab University.
The decision has been taken in the light of instructions from Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool.
A meeting in this regard was held on Wednesday, which was attended by the heads of different faculties and institutions, deans, directors and chairmen of the teaching departments and principal investigators of the development projects. UAF vice-chancellor Dr Bashir Ahmad presided over the meeting.
It was also decided that attendance of the students must be marked by their teachers and lecture shortage would strictly be pointed out by sending a copy to the secretary to the vice-chancellor.
In order to improve the working of academic and administrative sides, it was decided that the staff not performing up to the mark must be warned in writing, also endorsing a copy to the vice-chancellor. Deans of the faculties and administrative heads would be responsible for proper working of their departments/sections.
Dr Bashir Ahmad told the participants that advisory board committees for each department at the university would give suggestions on curriculum and improvement of the academic system.
He said the main object of the meeting was to identify the problems and get the decisions implemented. For example, he added, copies of curriculum development guidelines introduced by the University of Punjab, received through the chancellor's secretariat, were provided to the deans of the faculties and directors of institutions with the request that these guidelines might be discussed at the departmental level to ensure qualitative teaching.

DIE: A driver and conductor of a wagon were killed when their vehicle collided head-on with a truck at Chak Jhumra on Tuesday night.
Reports said a mini-wagon was hit by an oncoming truck near motorway at Chak Jhumra. Wagon driver Muhammad Azhar and conductor Muhammad Husain suffered grievous injuries and died on their way to hospital. The truck driver fled from the scene.
