DERA GHAZI KHAN: Two Nazims, 20 others booked: 'Attack on NGO men'
DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 21: Two union council Nazims of the Khosa dominated area and 20 armed men were booked on Wednesday night for attacking a Houbara Foundation team in Mauza Dallana, D.G Khan tehsil.
A dispute is going on between tehsil Nazim Aasim Zubair Khosa and Dost Muhammad Khosa, son of Khosa tribe chief Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, over extending cooperation to the Houbara Foundation, an NGO reportedly facilitating Arab dignitaries in the hunting of endangered houbara bustard.
The NGO teams, which protect houbara bustard from local hunters, are being guarded by the tribal men provided by Dost Muhammad Khosa of Bahadurgarh and Aasif Nadeem Khosa of Dallana.
On Wednesday night, Aasim Khosa along with UC Nazims Aasif Saeed Khosa and Muhammad Bakhsh Khosa, also a PSC member, escorted by 20 armed men tried to hunt the endangered species in the area where the NGO had already set up its camps. They were resisted by the protection team provided by the son of Khosa tribal chief.
The tehsil Nazim left the scene to save his skin when things went wrong while others remained there. After a squabble, they asked the men of protection team to remove the camps from the area.
On the report of protection team head Maj Muhammad Hussain (retired), Sadar police registered a case against six nominated accused - Muhammad Bakhsh Khosa, Aasif Saeed, Mubarik Tagyani, Yousaf Khofli, Mehran and Dr Saifullah and 20 unidentified armed men. According to the FIR, Muhammad Bakhsh, UC Nazim, Aasif Saeed, Mubarak Tagiyani, Yousaf Khofli, Mehran Gajoji and Dr Saifullah also hurled threats of dire consequences.
Four camps of Houbara Foundation have been established in the area besides eight camps of tribal men provided by the tribal chief.
ARRESTED: Police on Thursday rounded up a motorcycle-snatcher after an encounter while his two accomplices managed to escape in the limits of Kot Cchutta police station.
Ahmed Bakhsh of Khanpur was going to his house by motorcycle (4552-LIT) when three armed men intercepted him. They snatched from him the bike and fled.
Ahmed Bakhsh reported the matter to a police patrol team which followed the culprits along with ASP Ehsan Manzoor. Seeing police on their hunt, the fleeing culprits left the motorbike and took a refuge in nearby fields. The police and local people exchanged fire with the culprits. As a result, one of the outlaws sustained injuries. He was arrested by the police while his accomplices beat a retreat. The arrested culprit was identified as Khan Muhammad while his accomplices were identified as Saifullah and Khuda Bukhsh.
Police recovered the snatched motorbike and registered a case against the accused.
