HYDERABAD: Rangers claim fishermen satisfied with contract system
HYDERABAD, 27: The Pakistan Rangers has claimed that fishermen of the Zero Area (border area) are satisfied with the contract system and the dealing of the Rangers.
At a meeting of the Fishermen Development Committee in Badin, which was attended by the wing commander of the Thar Rangers, and members Haji Gul Mohammad, Ghulam Mustafa Chandani and Ramzan Mallah, the participants said the fishermen, contractors and Rangers were fully cooperating with each other and there was no strike in the area.
A statement faxed to Dawn from the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Headquarters in Karachi on Wednesday claimed the members of the committee showed complete satisfaction over the Rangers contract system.
"They (fishermen) have nothing to do with the self-created strike and are busy in earning food for themselves and for their families" the statement said.
"Fishermen have also said that they have no link with persons who have been brought from outside Badin district for creating unrest in the smooth catching of fish".
The statement said the Rangers was carrying out development projects in the area including primary schools, supply of sweet water, availability of medicines in the Zero Area.
The meeting also expressed satisfaction over the supply of electricity to the area which had been initiated by the Rangers.
The next meeting, the communication said, would be held before Eidul Fitr to finalize an Eidi package for deserving families in the Zero Area.
