MIANWALI: Three policemen hurt in 'shootout'

MIANWALI, Oct 27: Three police officials and two informers sustained injuries in a 'shootout' here on Tuesday night at Dhab near Harnoli.

On a tip-off, a police team, led by Piplan DSP Malik Pervaiz Bandial raided the outhouse of Kashmir Khan to arrest a proclaimed offender, Abdul Jabbar alias Bhopa. On seeing the police, the outlaws opened fire as a result ASI Abdul Ghaffar, constables Muhammad Amir and Abdullah, informers Khalid Mehmood Gujar and Rohtas Khan, the brother of Kashmir Khan, sustained injuries.

The police arrested Kashmir Khan and recovered two guns from him. However, Bhopa, a resident of Chak 8-ML and involved in cases of murder and robberies, managed his escape.

Later, DPO Dr. Abdul Kareem Rao told newsmen that policemen were standing in the open area and were not expecting any retaliation from the outlaws.
