RAWALPINDI: Committee to recruit 415 ASIs formed
RAWALPINDI, Oct 28: A three-member committee has been constituted for recruitment of 415 assistant sub-inspectors as part of revamping of the capital police, an official source told Dawn on Thursday.
The committee was framed at a top level meeting presided over by the interior secretary, Tariq Mehmood, at the Interior Ministry.
Inspector General of Police, Islamabad, Fiaz Ahmed Toru and Deputy Director National Police Bureau Dr Shoaib Suddle attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the police recruitment policy in detail, the source said and added that it was also decided that all graduate constables and head-constables would be given fast promotion and preferred for the ASI post rather than recruiting fresh personnel. At present, there are 300 graduate police personnel in the capital police.
A senior police official said these 415 ASIs would be recruited directly or picked up from the existing police force because recruitment of ASIs through Public Service Commission was not necessary, as the police order 2002 did not exist in the Federal Capital Territory.
The source said out of 415 ASIs, 219 would be posted to the Police Division, while the remaining 196 would be posted to the Security Division under basic pay scale (BPS) 9.
The government has already approved Rs172 million for the revamping of the capital police, however, the latter have demanded Rs2.43 billion from the federal government.
