FAISALABAD: 'No-one will be allowed to create anarchy'
FAISALABAD, Nov 2: Governor Khalid Maqbool warned on Tuesday if anyone tried to create anarchy in the name of politics, sectarianism and biradrism, he would be dealt with accordingly.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a project for gas supply to the colonies and villages situated along the Rakh Branch Canal here, the governor said an amount of Rs9 billion was being spent on the provision of gas in the country.
He said some 4,500 new power connections were being provided annually as compared to the previous number of 900 besides two million telephone connections.
He said the elements involved in creating hurdles in the development process would be taken to task. The time had come that such a society was developed which could assess its problems and come forward for their solution by itself. He said the people should think about character building as well as the best possible coaching of the younger generation.
Presiding over a meeting of the Faisalabad Institute of Textile and Fashion Design University Trust, the governor urged the vocational and training institutes to focus on short-term diploma courses in addition to degree programmes to provide skilled manpower to the industry.
The governor said the FITFDU should seek affiliation with a reputed foreign institute to produce experts in various disciplines of textile and fashion garment. Trustees should conduct foreign tours to explore such an institute and seek its affiliation.
About financial requirements of the university, he asked the Board of Trustees to prepare separate projects to seek financial help from provincial as well as federal governments.
He hoped the FITFDU would also arrange a fashion exhibition to attract foreign buyers. He said our designers should not only create exotic fashion garments for European countries, but also play role for the promotion of local art and culture and further improve our indigenous dresses.
Responding to the demand of Faisalabad Institute of Textile and Fashion Design Trust Chairman Khurram Iftikhar, District Nazim Zahid Nazir announced allocation of Rs40 million to complete various projects in FITFDU through the Citizen Community Board.
The governor also visited the MC Model High School, Allama Iqbal Road.
