SIALKOT: Fresh probe into Sialkot bomb blast begins

SIALKOT, Nov 9: A security agency on Tuesday started a 'probe' into the Oct 1 blast at a local mosque in which 35 people were killed.

According to official sources, a team of the agency visited the DPO office here and recorded statements of senior policemen, some of the eye-witnesses and the injured during a two-hour closed door sitting.

The team reportedly expressed displeasure over the performance of local police which failed to find any clue to culprits.

Reports said as the police was busy in performing duties for the security of mosques, imambargahs, churches and other sensitive places, criminals had become active in the area.

Two unidentified armed dacoits looted Rs1.5 million in cash at gunpoint from the factory of industrialist Ejaz Ahmad in Noorpura.

Thieves took away gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Rs500,000 from the house of Shahid Bhatti in Garaarey-Muradpur village. Bandits took away a luxury car and Rs1.1 million in cash at gunpoint from exporter Aslam in Hajipura.

Three gangsters made off with Rs150,000 from fertilizers' dealer Haji Liaquat at gunpoint near Bharokey canal bridge, Daska.

In Raokey-Satrah village, Daska tehsil, two men took away a motorcycle (GAO-6729) and Rs50,000 at gunpoint from Rana Adnan Habib.

In village Loharaanwali Pulli, Satrah, three robbers made off with a motorcycle (GTE-5893) at gunpoint from Muhammad Yunas.

According to the official statistics, as many as 16 incidents of bike-snatching took place in the district during the last month.

When contacted, DSP Amjad Karim Butt claimed that the police had found various important clues and were making all-out efforts to control the rising incidence of crime in the district.
