HYDERABAD: Govt water committee chief asked to resign

HYDERABAD, Dec 11: The chairman of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz (Junejo), Mr Abdul Khaliq Junejo, has paid tribute to Abdul Karim Lodhi, the private member of the National Finance Commission, for his courageous decision and called upon , Mr A.N.G. Abbasi, the chairman of the technical committee on water, to emulate Mr Lodhi and resign from, what he called, the anti-Sindh committee.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Mr Junejo said that Mr Lodhi had struggled for genuine rights of Sindh as the member of the commission for four years.

He said that when Mr Lodhi was convinced that Sindh was not being given its due rights, he resigned on a matter of principle.

He said Mr Lodhi had set a new trend in the country and exposed real faces of the rulers.

SU: The director admissions, University of Sindh, has announced that the second merit list of selected candidates for admission to various disciplines of the Bachelor Degree programme and the list of the candidates who have been selected for admission under self-finance scheme have been displayed at the notice boards of the Sindh University Model School, Hyderabad, and the directorate of admissions. The last date for payment of admission fee has been fixed as Dec 20.

ELECTIONS: The Registrar, University of Sindh, has announced that election for members on the Sindh University Senate and academic council will be held on Jan 25, 2005.

Nomination forms can be obtained by candidates for contesting election on three seats of principals and 12 seats of teachers of affiliated colleges on Senate and on four seats of principals and on five seats of teachers for academic council from the deputy registrar's office.
