FAISALABAD: Naib Nazim resigns from all offices

FAISALABAD, Dec 18: Naib Nazim Abdul Hafeez Bawa, who is also chairman of the monitoring committee for regulations in the Tehsil Municipal Administration (City) and the head of opposition group, resigned from all offices.

He formally presented his resignation to District Nazim Zahid Nazir. Being an elected representative, Mr Bawa said that he had tried his best to raise the voice against corruption mafia in the TMA (City). But the ruling group headed by Tehsil Nazim Mumtaz Ali Cheema forced him to withdraw from all fronts.

He claimed that the TMA (City) affairs were being run in violation of the prescribed rules and huge funds were being misappropriated by the Tehsil Nazim without any check.

Abdul Hafeez Bawa had won the Naib Nazim seat from UC No 184 and joined the opposition group in the TMA against Tehsil Nazim Mumtaz Ali Cheema.

Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, another UC Naib Nazim, was the head of the TMA opposition group comprising a good number of councillors, including monitoring committees chairmen.

The TMA ruling group manoeuvred a no-confidence motion against Chaudhry Ashraf in his union council and kicked him out from the TMA affairs.

Similarly, the Cheema group also got approved a no-confidence motion against Abdul Hafeez Bawa in his union council. However, Bawa succeeded in getting relief from courts and got restored his position. A few days ago, the Cheema group again planned a no-confidence motion against Bawa, but he ended the tussle after resigning from his post.
