GUJRANWALA: Villager shot by dacoits

GUJRANWALA, March 6: A villager was killed and two dacoits injured in separate encounters in Toher Kalan and Talwandi Musa Khan here on Sunday.

Seven armed men stormed into the house of Ashiq Husain in Toher Kalan and locked the inmates in a room. They collected cash, jewellery and valuables and later entered the adjacent house of Karamat Husain from where they also looted cash and jewellery and escaped.

When the villagers chased the bandits, they opened fire as a result of which one of the villagers, Nabi Ahmad, sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.

Two dacoits took away cattle from the outhouse of Basharat in Talwandi Musa Khan. When the landlord chased them, they opened fire which was retaliated. In the crossfire, both the dacoits identified as Sharif and Safdar sustained injuries. They were arrested by the police.

DEPRIVED: Robbers deprived an expatriate of 11,000 Saudi ryals, besides other valuables, near Minhaspur village, Kamoke, on Sunday.

Six outlaws intercepted expatriate Sajjad Ahmad and his brother Muhammad Akhtar near the village and snatched Saudi ryals, a mobile phone etc, when they were returning to Budha Goraya village from Lahore Airport.
