National volleyball starts today

ISLAMABAD, Oct 29: Defending champions Wapda and Sindh will set the 37th Royals national volleyball championship in motion Tuesday at the Liaquat Gymnasium.

On a day which will see as many as six matches being played, top players will be on show in an event that features 14 teams including losing finalists of the last championship, Army and third placed Police.

Army, who have among their ranks top smasher Bakht Rasal, are to play Navy in the last match of the day, which also marks the official opening of the championship.

Other matches will be between PTCL and UGC, Police v Azad Kashmir, POF v Balochistan and PAF face Pakistan Boards.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will take part in next year’s Asian Junior Championship in Tehran which is slated from Sept 12 to 19, officials of the Pakistan Volleyball Federation said Monday.
