Sukkur to face water shortage

SUKKUR, Nov 4: Sukkur Barrage authority has said that the River Indus would be mostly flowing on the left side from Thursday due to which there would be shortage of water in the city.

The barrage authority has therefore informed the Sukkur Municipal Corporation to supply water to the city cautiously.

It added that last year too the water level had decreased to 23,000 cusecs and caused shortage of potable water and warned that this year the shortage would be more than the that of last year.

Sindh Irrigation Department has said if rains were not received this year the water level would go down to 20,000 cusecs at the barrage.

At Sukkur Barrage the water level has decreased by 6,000 cusecs during the last 24 hours and in the next 72 hours it would go even down.

Sukkur Municipal Corporation has advised the citizens to store water and use it carefully so that they may not remain without water during the water shortage period.
