HYDERABAD: Workshop on domestic violence

HYDERABAD, April 27: Speakers at a workshop have expressed concern over violence against women and urged the civil society to play its role in curbing such tendencies. The workshop on “Media and domestic violence” was organized by the Pakistan Press Foundation in cooperation with the European Union.

The speakers, including Musawwir Shahid, Sohail Sangi, Ahmad Raza and Farhan Shahid, said human rights were a gift of God acknowledged by all governments and international organizations.

They said no individual had a right to commit violence against any other human being, especially women. They said violence against women should be checked through literature and the media. They said the time had come to discard outdated and redundant customs used against women.

HESCO: Hesco here on Wednesday notified that power supply to various grid stations of upper Sindh was affected due to technical faults in Guddu and Liberty powerhouses at about 11:30am.

The affected grid stations included Kashmore, Kandhkot, Karampur, Shikarpur, Ratodero, Jacobabad, Shahdadkot, Garhi Khero, Meero Khan, Rohri, Pano Aqil, Ghalki, Mirpur Mathelo, Obaro and the Sukkur city.
