OKARA, April 27: The district nazim has imposed Section 144 in the Cantonment area of Chak 15/4L, barring tenants from harvesting and lifting wheat crop without paying batai and lease amount to the military authorities. On the other hand, Abdul Sattar Chaman of the Anjuman-i-Mazareen Punjab said the tenants had reviewed their previous decision not to harvest the crop in protest, and now they could harvest and lift the crop any time.

Meanwhile, a military spokesman claimed majority of the tenants were willing to pay the lease amount, but AMP leaders were creating hurdles in the way of resolution of the issue. He said the army had offered many facilities to the tenants.

He said no unlawful activities would be tolerated in the cantonment area.

Qazaf case: A woman, along with five witnesses, was booked in a Qazaf case on the orders of the court on Wednesday.

Reports said Bilqees Bibi had got registered a Hudood case against Ghulam Mohammad of Renala Khurd which was discharged by police after investigation.

Complainant Bilqees Bibi then filed an application in the court which was also discharged.

Accused Ghulam Mohammad then appealed to the court for registration of a case against the complainant under Qazaf laws, which was allowed by the court.

On court orders, the police registered a Qazaf case against Bilqees Bibi, Abdul Rahman, Yasir, Shah, Javid and Zahoor Ahmad, who claimed to be witnesses.

TWO DIE ON ROAD: Two men died and as many others injured as their motorcycles collided with each other on Haveli Road on Wednesday.

Reports said the accident occurred near Behloolpur village in which Amir Kittchi died on the spot while other motorcyclist, Ghulam Farid, succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The injured Ghulam Abbas Dogar and Ishaq were admitted to Haveli Lakkha hospital from where Ishaq was referred to Lahore in critical condition.

RECOVERED: On the orders of the district and sessions court, a bailiff recovered six people from illegal detention of a brick kiln owner in Chak 27/1-AL on Wednesday.

Munir Ahmad had filed a habeas corpus writ in the court against kiln owners Akhtr Khan and Jumma Khan, seeking release of his relatives — Shoban, Ashraf, Nadeem, Amir, Yasmin and Khurshid, who had allegedly been detained at the kiln.

A bailiff recovered all detainees and produced them in the court.

The judge has directed all detainees and the accused to appear in the court on May 9.
