Pervaiz seeks report from Sialkot DPO: Paralyzed woman’s rape

SIALKOT, May 1: Taking a serious notice of alleged gang-rape of a paralyzed woman, Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has directed DPO Osama Mumtaz Raja to immediately arrest the ‘influential’ culprits and provide security to the victim and her family. He has also sought an inquiry report from the DPO.

The chief minister has ordered the action after learning about the incident through news reports published in national dailies during the last week.

A paralyzed woman was allegedly raped by some people on April 12 last when she was at her home in Muslim Colony, Pasrur.

She told journalists the other day that seven armed men, including Kaka, Sifarish Ali, Shaaku and Atiq, stormed into her house and raped her one by one. She said she could not resist because of paralysis.

She also claimed that the intruders held up her children and took away Rs25,000 in cash and other valuables.

She said the city police had instituted a case after eight days of the incident, but still not arrested the suspects.

When contacted, the DPO iterated that raids were being conducted to arrest the suspects at the earliest.
