Musharraf vows to ‘strengthen’ defence

SIALKOT, Dec 4: Efforts are being made to strengthen defence of the country.

This was stated by president Gen Pervez Musharraf while addressing Garrison Darbar here on Tuesday.

He said the government was determined to check terrorism in the country and hoped that people from all segments of society, including students, lawyers, traders, journalists and teachers, would spare no pains when the country demanded.

“Armed forces are capable to combat any aggression directed against the country,” he added.

He maintained the government was working to make the new system a success by raising the standard living of masses.

Visualizing a potential for economic prosperity in the country, he said the government had taken judicious decisions in the present crisis.

People trying to create unrest in the country would face the music, he warned.

Earlier, the high-ups briefed the president about the latest situation on the Sialkot working boundary.
