PESHAWAR: NAPP to support Musharraf

PESHAWAR, April 13: Announcing support to the presidential referendum, a spokesman for the National Awami Party Pakistan claimed that the party decision would help pave the way for restoration of democracy in the country.

The spokesman was talking to journalists at the NAPP secretariat here on Saturday.

He said the party had been supporting Gen Musharraf’s decision of transferring power to the grassroots level and the current NAPP decision in favour of the referendum was part of that agenda.

He admitted that there were differences in the party over the issue of referendum, “but finally the party decided in favour of President Gen Pervez Musharraf”.

Despite indifferent attitude of “Musharraf’s allies” towards the NAPP, the party extended support to the government just for the sake of restoration of genuine democracy in the country, he added.
