Governor urges masses to vote for Musharraf

KHAIRPUR, April 16: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has urged the people to cast votes in referendum if they wanted end of unemployment, stability of economy and continuation of the present system.

Speaking at a meeting of the Nazims and councillors of Khairpur district here at Sachal Auditorium on Tuesday, he said that it was necessary for the benefit of the people that they voted in favour of President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

He expected that Nazims, councillors and people would participate in referendum with the same spirit which was witnessed among the participants of the gathering.

He warned that anyone who would violate the provisions of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2002 would be dealt strictly.

He said that construction work of Larkana-Khairpur bridge over River Indus and remodelling of Mirwah Canal would start soon.

The governor said that dates worth millions of rupees were lying at Lahore railway station due to strained relations with India, and held assurance that he would try to get them exported as soon as possible.

He said that removal of ban on employment in Sindh was under consideration.

About the demand of District Khairpur Nazim Nafeesa Shah for the appointment of an honest officer with good character in her district, the governor asked as to from where he could bring honest officers, and added that officers would be posted from the available stuff.

Meanwhile, Nazim of Hingorja union council, Syed Mahram Ali Shah, has assured the governor of taking active part in the referendum.
