FC man killed, 7 injured in Kohat
KOHAT, Sept 6 A security man was killed and seven injured in an attack by militants on an FC checkpost here late on Friday night.
Officials said that the militants exchanged heavy gun fire with the security forces at the Kotal checkpoint in an attempt to occupy the post located on a hilly track.
The officials said the militants retaliated after they were surrounded by the forces in Sheraki area.
Sepoy Hafiz Qari Misal Khan was killed while Kifayatullah, Khurshid Ali, Raees Khan, Raqeeeb Khan, Latifullah, Zamir Ahmed and Moinullh were injured.The injured were admitted to the Combined Military Hospital here. According to unconfirmed sources the number of the injured was eleven.
Security tightened Local authorities have further tightened security in the district particularly Cantonment area following suicide bomb attack at the Zangali checkpost on Saturday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Abdullah Khan told Dawn that a man called the Rescue-15 Kohat immediately after the suicide attack asking for ambulances. The message was immediately passed on to the Peshawar police and rescuers reached the scene, and controlled the situation.
He said that prize for the rescuers had been announced and the police had been directed to remain vigilant due to suicide attack threats from the militants of Darra Adamkhel.
Security personnel had been deployed at all busy areas in plain clothes to keep eye on suspicious people and owners of business outlets had been asked to increase security at main gates, he added.
Earlier, the police had deployed 1,500 extra policemen at all sensitive places and sealed the entrances to the district.
BAR MEETING The Kohat Bar Association has demanded inquiry against the district and sessions judge, Kohat for his alleged insulting attitude towards the members of the bar and issuing `illegal` notices to lawyers to vacate the building of the Kohat Soldier Board.
A meeting of the bar association held here under the chairmanship if its president advocate Khurshid Ahmed Khattak denounced the `rude` behaviour of the district and sessions judge, Kohat Shah Jehan Khan and demanded, through a unanimously passed resolution, his immediate suspension by the Peshawar High Court.
