Mercury rises to 51°C in Larkana

LARKANA, June 12: The people of Larkana braved another hot day as the mercury shot up to 51 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

According to the Met office, it was the second hottest day of the season in Larkana. The hottest day was recorded about a month back when the temperature soared to 52 degrees Celsius.

Most of the citizens preferred to remain indoors as a result of which the bazaars and streets gave a deserted look. Some people fell unconscious due to sunstroke and had to be taken to a hospital.

The ice factories in Qambar Taluka had been closed down on purpose so as to create a pretext for increasing the price of ice.

Thus, ice was soon out of the reach of the poor. In some areas, small ice blocks were being sold for Rs15.
