KOHAT: Rocket damages school in Kohat
KOHAT, March 23 Unidentified persons fired a rocket at the cantonment area which damaged the boundary wall of junior section of a school, situated near the combined military hospital, on Monday night.
Police said that the rocket hit the boundary wall of the school resulting in a big explosion which also smashed the windowpanes of the school and nearby buildings.
Military police and other officials reached the scene with difficulty due to heavy rain and complete blackout at the time of the blast. The direction of the launching pad of the rocket could not be ascertained by the experts immediately.
The bomb disposal squad collected the pieces of the rocket for investigation and FIR was lodged in the police station concerned.
Security forces retaliate by pounding the hideouts of militants with artillery in the mountains of Darra Adamkhel.
Meanwhile, the Parachinar Reforms Committee demanded on Monday implementation of the Islamabad Agreement in letter and spirit for controlling worsening law and order situation in Kurram Agency.
The office-bearers of the committee, Mullah Jannat Shah and Aziz Khan Mengal regretted that the Islamabad jirga had decided to collect fine from the tribe which violated ceasefire but since then no action had been taken against the aggressors.
They criticised the political administration for its failure in the restoration of peace and paving the way for the return of thousands of displaced families.
They also demanded that the political administration should cancel the permits of Kalashnikovs issued to Tori Bangash tribe which could be misused in sensitive settled districts like, Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Kohat and Peshawar.
It is pertinent to mention here that the political administration of Kurram Agency had issued 50 permits to Tori Bangash tribes to protect themselves against attacks by the militants on Parachinar-Kohat and Kohat-Peshawar highways.
