Recruitment of teachers: Attock EDO asked to get stay vacated
ATTOCK, April 28 Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination Punjab Mian Zulqarnain Aamir on Tuesday expressed his displeasure over the performance of education department for not pursuing properly the matter of teachers` recruitment in the court.
This was expressed by him while chairing a meeting with the executive district officers (EDOs), district officers and others officials of the various departments, including education, health, revenue, tehisl municipal administration (TMA), food and social welfare, to discuss multiple issues.
The secretary, also in charge of Attock, directed the EDO education to take legal measures to get the stay order vacated by the court.
The EDO education informed the secretary that the teachers` recruitment process was initiated by the department but some people had filed a petition against the recruitment in the court and obtained the stay order, causing suspension of the recruitment process.
The secretary also directed the EDO to immediately initiate the process of establishment of computer laboratories in the schools as, he said, sufficient funds were available with the education department which could be utilised for this purpose.
Taking notice of non-payment of salaries to female lecturers of Government College for Women Attock, the secretary asked the deputy district officer revenue (DDOR) to ask the district officer colleges to send the case to the concerned authorities to ensure payment to them.
The DDOR informed the secretary that the issue of lecturers` shortage in the college had been addressed by recruiting 14 more female lecturers on honorary basis. The secretary on the occasion asked the executive district officer health to remove differences in salaries of health staff working in rural and urban areas.
The EDO also pointed out that the age relaxation granted for the recruitment for the male nurses was not enough as majority of them were retired personnel and over-aged by 10-15 years.
The secretary asked the municipal officer TMA to keep strict check and vigilance over the functioning of illegal housing societies to protect the people form their fraud.
On query about the Sasti Roti programme, the TMO claimed that 85 tandoors were functioning in tehsil Attock to ensure provision of the roti at Rs2.
He asked the district food controller to ensure wheat procurement process transparent to avoid any complaint from farmers and said in case of negligence, strict action would be take in this regard.
The secretary directed the concerned officials to shift Darul Aman from private building to government building. The DDOR said government land had been identified near Jinnah Park for its construction.
The secretary asked the DDOR to shift the office of district officer (DO) sports at Liaquat Ali Khan Hockey Stadium for proper supervision of sports activities and stadium as well.
On a query about various revenue matters, particularly steps against encroachments and illegal housing societies, the DDOR informed the secretary that permanent encouragements had been removed from Attock tehsil.
And, he said, the revenue filed staff had been directed to stop issuance of Fard of the land of illegal housing societies in the tehsil, besides imposing ban on the sale of their land.
The secretary directed the district coordination officer (DCO) to prepare feasibility report for establishing a tourist resort and adventure trail at the beautiful and picturesque terrain between Attock Khurd and Barotha.
The DCO said a concept paper in this regard had already been prepared and the feasibility report would be soon submitted to the Punjab government.
