Khairpur radio broadcasts hit snags

KHAIRPUR, May 3 Listeners have voiced concern at frequent suspension of broadcasts of Radio Pakistan Khairpur.

Reports said the broadcasts remained suspended over the week for six hours.

Some people, including Pathan Chano, an Algoza player, Agha Shah Nawaz, Riaz Solangi and Hussain Bux Rid said on Sunday that for one week, they had not received broadcasts of Radio Pakistan Khairpur.

They said that during electricity load-shedding in the evening hours, high power transmission (HPT) had been facing problems.

The Radio Pakistan Khairpur covers a wide area of upper Sindh and Balochistan and rural people relied on radio programmes.

They called upon the federal information minister and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Director-General Ghulam Murtaza Solangi to immediately resolve the issue and ensure regular transmission.

TEACHERS' MOOT People's Party MNA Nafisa Shah has said that credit goes to the PPP government for lifting the ban imposed on teachers' unions by the previous dictatorial government.

However, she opposed political interference in education.

Teachers should not be recruited, posted, transferred and promoted under political influence, the MPA said at a gathering of high, junior and primary school teachers at Saint Theresa's High School here on Saturday.

Later, she distributed promotion orders to 103 men and women teachers.
