Nasir enters Anti Tobacco Tennis final

KARACHI, May 28 Promising Nasir Mushtaq stormed into the men's singles final of the 12th Anti Tobacco Day Tennis tournament handing a straight defeat on Adnan Khan at the Karachi Club on Thursday.

Nasir, the second seed, won the contest 6-3, 6-4 and will face the winner of second semi-final to be played between top seed Nomi Qamar and Khalid Ali Nazar on Friday.

The ladies singles matches that commenced on Thursday have reached the semi-final stage. Ten women are featuring in the event.

Ladies singles pre quarter-finals

Anita bt Shahana Khan 6-2, 7-6 (4); Uroosa Ahmed bt Amber Hussain 6-4, 6-4;

Quarter-finals

Seher Khwaja bt Uroosa Ahmed 6-0, 6-0; Saima Khan bt Dr Shahrukh Khan 6-2, 6-2.

Men's doubles quarter-finals

Adnan Khan and Khalid Ali Nazar bt M. Shamil Faraz Ehsan 6-0, 6-1; Saqib Hussain and Farhan Altaf bt Qutub and Faisal Mahmood 6-1, 6-2.

Juniors' singles quarter-final

Farhan Altaf bt Hakeem Khan 6-0, 6-0.

Men's singles quarter-final

Khalid Ali Nazar bt Saif Noor Sumar 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

Semi-final

Nasir Mushtaq bt Adnan Khan 6-3, 6-4.
