HYDERABAD, Aug 11 The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) would prosecute Pervez Musharraf and other generals for treason and overthrowing the elected government in 1999, if and when it comes into power.

The PML-N leader Mamnoon Hussain said this during a public address in Tando Allahyar and regretted over the PPP's reluctance in taking action against the general despite the fact that the Supreme Court had declared 'unconstitutional' his November 3, 2007. He called on the PPP to proceed against the murderer of Baloch nationalist leader Akbar Bugti and of female students of Jama Hafsa. Mamnoon Hussain further said that the dictator's involvement in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto would not be ruled out.

He urged the PPP government to implement the Charter of Democracy signed by Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif.

“It is our desire to see the PPP government completing its five-year tenure but things look different because of its indecisive policy,” he said.

Roti was being sold in Punjab for Rs2, besides all possible facilities available in educational institutions and hospitals he said adding that the people of other provinces should also be facilitated in similar way.

Later, he told journalists that the PML-N was ready for coalition with the MQM but on certain conditions, and that their party was not against the local bodies system but wants a check on malpractices through amendments in the law.

BILATERAL TRADE Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Rauf Siddiqui has stressed the need for promoting bilateral trade with neighbouring countries to build bridges and promote friendship.

Talking to journalists at a ceremony for drawing lots for plots in Site area, the minister said that Pakistan had best trade relations with China, which had always supported the country in difficult times and was a trusted friend.

He said that great opportunities existed in the country for foreign investors and the government was providing maximum facilities to industrialists.

He said that Sindh earned a lion's share of revenue for the country but unfortunately its people were living in abject poverty and there was massive unemployment in the province.

The government alone could not eliminate unemployment, the minister said, adding, that the industrialists and business community could supplement government's efforts for generating jobs.

He said that there were 145 industrial plots in the expansion scheme for which applications had been invited from all over the country. Since the applications exceeded the number of plots, therefore, it was decided to draw lots to make the exercise transparent, he said.

He said the successful industrialists would have to deposit 40 per cent of the price of the plot before setting up any industry and they would be unable to sell the plots to other entrepreneurs at increased price.

He said the government had already started work on construction of a filter plant in the Site area at a cost of Rs500 million, which would be completed in seven months.

The industries in the Site as well as people of adjoining areas would be provided clean drinking water, Mr Siddiqui said.

He directed the managing director of Site to complete development works at the expansion site without further delay and added that the government was serious in laying a network for the development of industries in the province.

District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil expressed the hope that with establishment of new industrial units, the problem of unemployment would be solved to a great extent.

The minister later announced names of 38 successful applicants who were given plots measuring 500 yards each while 107 were given plots measuring 1000 yards each.

Sindh Assembly members Rana Abdul Sattar Rajput, Khalid Khan, Sohail Yousuf, Ms Zarin Majeed, Ms Sehar Bano Abbas, secretary of industry and commerce Ali Ahmed Loond, senior government officials and a large number of industrialists and traders attended the ceremony.
