Sukkur library
THE roof of the Municipal Library, Sukkur, was badly damaged by the recent monsoon rain. Some of the readers were slightly injured when the roof suddenly fell on them.
Sometime ago officials of the higher authorities concerned visited the library and allocated some funds to repair the damaged roof but no progress has been made so far.
Although this library falls within the administration of the DCO and the Municipal Corporation, they all have been silent spectators, paying no heed to it.
It is sad to say that most of the people prepared for their CSS examinations here but after being CSPs they have not paid any attention to the library's needs.
Moreover, there is no room for women in the library and this is how very few of them visit it.
There is also an acute shortage of books about CSS requirements. Most of the CSS aspirants belong to the poor class who can't afford to buy books.
I request the DCO and the relevant authorities, especially those who have prepared for CSS examinations here in this library and have now reached the key posts, to make sincere efforts for the repair of the damaged roof of the library. They should also ensure construction of ladies' reading rooms.
