Rs340m budget for Abbottabad council

ABBOTTABAD, July 18: The district Nazim, Mustafa Jadoon, presented a Rs340 million budget for the Abbottabad district council for the next fiscal year here on Thursday.

The outlay includes a Rs110 million budget for the tehsil municipal administration. The budget meeting was presided over by the council convener, Javed Abbasi.

The Nazim told the meeting that the NWFP governor had approved a water games project at the Harno River, a potentially good recreation facility for the tourists and the locals.

The council was informed that for the provision of drink-ing water in Nathiagali, the NWFP government had allocated Rs30 million.

He said that on completion, the Greater Water Supply Scheme for Abbottabad city would save Rs20 million annually of the tehsil municipal administration.

Mr Jadoon said the provincial government would grant Rs10 million for the construction of an additional block at the district secretariat building. Funds for the construction of offices in the 14 union councils would also be provided soon, he added.

Under the Khushal Pakistan Programme, he said that 172 schemes of roads, 134 schemes of water supply, two of health, 15 of education and five schemes of women welfare were in progress.
