BHC to be moved for FIR against Musharraf: Jamil

QUETTA Nawabzada Jamil Bugti has said the decision of the Sibi sessions court to reject his plea for registration of an FIR against former president Pervez Musharraf for the 'murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti is disappointing but not surprising'.

Talking to Dawn on Saturday, he said the court had turned down his application because the judiciary was 'yet to gain independence'.

'We have been saying from the very beginning that time would tell whether the judiciary is free or not,' he said.

He declared that he would approach the Balochistan High Court for the registration of FIR against Pervez Musharraf and his aides for his father's murder.

'Pervez Musharraf is a liar,' Mr Bugti said when he was reminded that the former president had once denied direct involvement in Nawab Bugti's killing.

Though punishing Musharraf would not solve the problems confronted by Balochistan, but he must be tried for crimes against humanity, he added.

Mr Bugti said he still did not know where his father's body was. 'It was the government which claimed that Nawab Saab was killed in Tartani area of Kohlu.'

Jamil Bugti claimed that in addition to Nawab Akbar Bugti over 50 tribesmen were killed who were mentioned in his petition to the Sibi court. 'We don't know where the bodies of those tribesmen are.'

He alleged that former governor of Balochistan Owais Ahmed Ghani and former chief minister Jam Yousaf had played a role in his father's murder.

He said the former governor had accused Nawab Bugti of getting weapons from India.
