Five killed in gun attack on Gilgit van

GILGIT, Sept 30 Five people were killed and 14 others injured when suspected terrorists fired at a passenger van here on Wednesday.

A nine-year-old boy died on the spot and four of the injured in hospital.

The van was coming to Gilgit from Basin. The deceased were identified as Shehzada, Noor Mohammad, Nizam, Wazir Shah, Sabir Alam.

Gilgit magistrate Asad Zamin said the administration had got some information about the people involved in the attack and they would be arrested soon.

Police chief Khurshid Alam Khan said that police and Rangers personnel were patrolling the streets.

One man was killed and four others were injured in a grenade attack at a shop in Gilgit last week.

One of the injured, identified as Aqib Hussain, died in the DHQ hospital on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani who was here when the passenger van was attacked asked the administration to bring the culprits to book.
