ATTOCK, Oct 11 In the backdrop of the terrorist attack on the GHQ in Rawalpindi, security in Attock, Kamra and Sanjwal cantonments has been put on high alert. Sensitive defence installations including Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, PAF base Kamra and Pakistan Ordinance Factories are located in these areas.

Owing to the frequent occurrence of terrorism incidents, security measures had already been tightened by law enforcement agencies in the district. The 15-km-long portion of Attock-Kamra road from Parigate to Qutba Chowk had been closed by authorities at Kamra. Sandbag bunkers have been set up at the entry and exit points of Attock-Kamra road where private vehicles are being searched thoroughly.

However, after the Saturday terrorism incident at GHQ, the security measures have further been tightened particularly in the jurisdiction of Kamra cantonment and around PAC, where army personnel have been deployed.

Moreover, police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies have been put on high alert in Attock and their number has also been increased at all sensitive points particularly around the POF Sanjwal and artillery regimental centre, the offices of district police headquarters and the civil administration.—Correspondent
