BHC seeks information about missing persons

QUETTA, Oct 28 The Balochistan High Court has directed federal defence and interior secretaries to ask intelligence agencies to provide timely information to it on missing persons.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Issa issued on Wednesday the order on a constitutional petition filed by a woman, Tayyaba, who alleged that personnel of a secret agency had picked up her husband, Syed Mohammad Azam Agha, from Quetta's Bukhari centre in 2007.

Interior Secretary Qamar Zaman and Balochistan Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani assured the court that they would ask the agencies under their control to inform the court about any missing person.

Counsel for the defence secretary said he would submit at the next hearing a list of agencies that came under his ministry's control. The case was adjourned for 15 days.
