PPP`s protest camp against Musharraf
BAHAWALPUR, Nov 14 A PPP's protest camp to condemn the remarks of former president Pervez Musharraf against President Asif Ali Zardari was organised at Fawwara Chowk here on Saturday.
The camp was decorated with anti-Musharraf banners and his dictatorial policies. A large number of PPP activists, including women office-bearers, joined the camp. The participants raised slogans against Pervez Musharraf and in support of President Asif Zardari.
District president Shakir Mirza, information secretary Salim Bhatti and others in their speeches condemned the former president's remarks and expressed confidence in the leadership of PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari.
COURT MOVED An application to initiate the contempt of court proceedings against the Pakistan Railways administration was moved in the Lahore High Court (Bahawalpur bench) on Saturday.
Petitioner Abdullah Saqi Sial contended in his application that an LHC single bench on July 23, 2009, had directed the railway administration to decide about the demand for the restoration of the Karakoram Express stoppage at Bahawalpur within a month.
But, the petitioner said the railway had so far taken no decision which was tantamount to the contempt of court.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued a notice to the railway administration for Nov 26.—Correspondent
