Three of family shot dead in Swabi
SWABI, Dec 20 Three persons of a family were shot dead over a dispute concerning marriage of a woman here on Sunday. The incident took place in Azam Gahri village near Jehangira.
Registering FIR with Chota Lahor police station, Anwar Khan, said attackers barged into their house early on Sunday and opened indiscriminate fire, killing his son Zahid Khan, niece Tanzeela Begum and her brother Fayaz Khan. Mr Anwar said his other son Waqar Khan was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Peshawar. He said that the killers escaped after committing the gory incident.
Mr Anwar said that the cause of the incident was that nine years back his son Zahid married with the sister of Bilal who belongs to the Yar Hussain region. He added that the marriage took place without the consent of woman's parents and brothers that led to rivalry between the two families.
Mr Anwar has named Bilal, Noshad and Irshad Khan in the FIR for being involved in the murder.
ALL PARTY MOOT A JUI-F organised all parties conference held on Sunday adopted a unanimous declaration demanding the NWFP government extend 20 per cent of the Rs10 billion received in power royalty from the federal government to Swabi because it was the only district which was badly affected by construction of Tarbela Dam and Ghazi Barotha Hydro-Project.
The conference was attended by the leaders of ANP, JI, PPP-S, PML-N, PML-Q PPP, PTI, PMAP, PAP, Swabi Jamhoori Ittehad and Swabi Qaumi Mahaz.
This was the first time that leadership of all the political parties, including the NWFP coalition partners gathered on a single platform and agreed to work collectively for the rights of the district while shunning their differences.
They said whenever the question of the development of the district and rights of its people came they would shun their differences and work jointly for the progress and prosperity of the region.
They said that each and every family in the district should get 100 free units of electricity and there should be no loadshedding across the district.
In the declaration they said the government should provide flats and jobs to the Tarbela Dam and Ghazi Barotha Dam affected people.
The parties' leaders demanded 50 per cent quota in the Wapda employment and provision of livelihood sources to those who lost their fishery profession after the diversion of the River Indus water to the Ghazi Barotha project.
An immediate construction of the main roads and link roads was also stressed. They said that without proper communication system the residents confronted difficulties o reach other cities.
