LAHORE With the induction of four new departments, the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) will hold the National Inter-department Championship in Islamabad from April 15 to 17. The four new departments are Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Navy, and Higher Education Commission, who play in the above said championship, while Azad Kashmir is the fourth one which will play later with the provinces.
PJF president, Col Rana Shujaat told Dawn that the induction of new units would ultimately strengthen the game in the country, besides providing opportunities to the players to gain employment.
Shujaat said that the PJF had taken another step for the first time, asking all the playing units to send their players, under the age of 26 as it It would also help to give a chance to the youngsters to show their mettle.
Every unit, he said, is allowed to send maximum three players to contest in each weight category.
He said after the Inter-department championship, the federation would form 'A' and 'B' teams to pick best players to form the Pakistan team. And after getting further coaching and training it would represent Pakistan in the forthcoming international events.
